You can give a fully tax deductible contribution to support Michigan's heritage railroad. We are currently fundraising for two great projects.
Please give donations by check to The Friends of the Southern Michigan Railroad. It purchased 90-acre site on the Raisin River specifically for us, and they are developing our future shops, carbarns and visitor facilities. This is vital to our future! Mail to:

(Tax note, the Friends of the Southern Michigan Railroad is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and contributions are tax deductible in the normal ways.)
Credit cardStill working on it.
Got stocks or property?
Don't sell it - donate it. You usually get better tax savings. This is a bit complicated and we have to work through a third party, so call our office and we can help work it out.
We partner with the Lenawee Community Foundation to receive donations that are too complex for our volunteer staff. The foundation handles our Endowment, which is the most important investment any charity can have. Your gift supports our charity forever, and assures us a future. You must tell them to apply it to the Friends of the Southern Michigan Railroad Endowment (no connection with the Friends organization.) Contact:

Other ways you can help
Through public support, SMRS is able to restore and maintain its engines, train cars, and track to provide tours to the public. Help us keep our tracks in gauge by:
- Donating machinery, materials, tools or services from your business.
- Come out and Ride the Rails! Passenger fares help support the variety of offerings and preservation of this historical rail cooridor!
- Becoming an SMRS volunteer and help us by working on the railroad in areas of mechanical, restoration, train crew, museum docents, track maintenance or other general areas of operation.
