A Railroad in Jeopardy

SMRS's existence is being threatened by several people and companies attempting a hostile takeover. As a railroad museum, SMRS owns its railroad line which makes it similar to a land conservancy with 13.65 miles of historic Michigan rail line.  Help save one of Michigan's few surviving rail lines by becoming a member and volunteering.

The Tecumseh Herald recently covered the story in its September 3, 2009 edition.  Read the story "Group seeks to change SMRS board" and the follow-up letter to the editor by one of our founding members, Jeffrey Dobek. Ballots have been collected and official counting has begun to determine SMRS leadership.  Lenawee County's Daily Telegram covers the story in its article "Vote-count begins in railroad society election."

For more information about SMRS's most recent update about the election process, read SMRS Election Update for Members.
