The Southern Michigan Railroad Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization powered entirely by volunteers. Our mission to build an operating museum railroad and preserve the historic character of the ‘Clinton Branch’ would not be possible without the support of our passengers and sponsors. Your donation helps us maintain and restore our railroad equipment, preserve our railroad right-of-way, create and acquire new equipment and artifacts for preservation, and sustain our operation for future generations. Every dollar donated is put directly into the efforts of the Southern Michigan Railroad Society to support our many ongoing projects and preserve the railroad history of southeast Michigan.
Our collection of railroad equipment, with some pieces over 100 years old, can be costly to maintain and restore. Each piece has a unique history and helps us tell the story of American railroading in a variety of ways, from demonstrating how our ancestors travelled the country to exemplifying American ingenuity with specialized types of carrying freight to keep industry booming. Your donation is essential to ensuring these pieces are preserved for years to come.
With your support, we can continue to develop our museum collection and offer new types of experiences during your visit. As our campus continues to evolve and our roster continues to grow, your donation can help us lay the track to a bright future ahead in railroad preservation.
We are also seeking a variety of physical items and supplies. Please view our wish list if you are interested in donating an item or providing supplies to help us continue work on our many ongoing projects.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting our organization!
